The beauty industry is, perhaps, finally taking sustainability seriously. Amatus was founded on the idea that simplicity and sustainability are deeply interconnected, and our commitment to simplicity has led us to being as sustainable as possible in the way we operate. And it got me thinking: how is this connection driving the way we approach our skincare routines?

Simplicity Promotes Sustainable Consumption

There is a growing awareness of the environmental impact caused by excessive consumption. We hope to help people become more aware of the impact of what they buy and by focusing on quality over quantity, consumers can reduce waste and minimise the carbon footprint associated with excessive product usage. That’s why we only offer two core ranges and our goal is for people to employ skincare routines that incorporate fewer but still highly effective products, ultimately leading to a more sustainable and eco-friendly beauty routine.

Essential Ingredients and Sustainable Sourcing

As people look for products which align with their values, they are increasingly demanding transparency from beauty brands about their supply chains, ingredients, and the environmental impact of their products.

Despite this, it is surprisingly difficult to find out and to understand the ingredients, names and purpose of what is in many of the brands we see on the shelves. That’s why Amatus provides an ingredients list with every product and why we only include the essentials, such as hyaluronic acid and niacinamide.

We go further by working with our suppliers to support sustainable sourcing and cruelty-free production, contributing to the overall sustainability of our operations and providing you with safer and more environmentally friendly products.

Don’t forget the packaging!

In working towards a more sustainable future, packaging has been a major area of innovation in the beauty industry. Reducing the amount of packaging needed, attempting to eliminate plastic waste and using recyclable materials have all contributed to reducing impact on the environment. Our products are all sold in 100% recyclable materials.

We’re always looking at ways to reduce the environmental impact of our packaging and will introduce changes when we know they will be an improvement on what we do now.

Sustainability is a journey for us, we’re not perfect and we’re always looking for ways to improve but the connection between simplicity and sustainability is compelling. Conscious consumption, only essential ingredients, minimal packaging and waste reduction are vital for a more environmentally conscious and responsible approach to skincare. As we continue to evolve, simplicity and sustainability will be our guiding lights.
